Markus moving to Doughty St Chambers

LEGAL Aid Board member Kate Markus is to join Doughty Street Chambers next month.

She has been working at the Brent Law Centre for 10 years, is a former chair of the Law Centres Federation and is also chair of the Public Law Project.

She says: "I want to specialise in public law and judicial review, and that is going to be my role at Doughty Street."

She adds: "After 10 years, I feel I need a change. My current work covers a very wide field and does not give me the opportunity to specialise and get to grips with judicial review."

Markus joined the 12-strong Legal Aid Board as a member in February last year after years of campaigning for cash-starved law centres who had been threatened with closure.

Doughty Street Chambers manager Christine Kings says of Markus' decision to join: "This will be a most welcome addition. Judicial review is a very important area."
