As one of the UK’s leading media lawyers for the past 30 years, Mark Devereux is known as an innovator and a key influencer in the media sector.
Acting for broadcasters, TV producers, film-makers, distributors, advertising agencies, music businesses, financiers, publishers, theatre impressarios, celebrities and talent agencies on both sides of the Atlantic, Devereux has helped to shape the media landscape and in particular the UK film and television industries.
Although Devereux specialises in providing strategic advice to global media companies and its leaders, he has been deeply involved in the development of independent British film and television throughout his career and there are few major British films of the last 30 years in which Devereux and his team have not been involved.
Devereux’s unique take on the technology, media and telecommunications sectors has ensured Olswang’s evolution from a small boutique practice to a full-service international law firm with a distinctive approach. His holistic knowledge of the whole media landscape has allowed him to build a world-class team that works in partnership with clients to help change their business and to innovate in their sectors.
He is currently a deputy chairman of the British Screen Advisory Council, and was previously the deputy chairman of the UK Film Council.
Devereux is one of the best connected people in the UK media industry and was the only lawyer listed in the Media Guardian top 100 in 2009 and 2010.
