Mannheimer raids Swedish rival Vinge to build on record results

Swedish powerhouse Mannheimer Swartling has raided rival Vinge for a partner in Malmö and is set to break the SKr1bn (£75.74m) revenue barrier for the first time.

The firm is predicting a revenue of SKr1.05bn (£79.53m), up from last year's SKr930m (£70.44m). A boom in corporate activity has seen Mannheimer boost its partnership by eight, promoting seven and hiring corporate partner Peter Linderoth from Vinge's Malmö office.

Mannheimer managing partner Stefan Brocker said: "Even though we're one of the largest Nordic firms, we are relatively small in the world. We want to keep hold of our Nordic clients and manage their interests abroad.

"Some firms have focused more on transaction work, but we still believe in the full-service approach."

Linderoth spent 10 years as a partner at Vinge, developing a practice specialising in M&A and corporate work.

Brocker said: "Peter has more of a general practice. In south Sweden really reputable lawyers such as him have a role almost like in-house counsel for clients."

Mannheimer's new partners will join the firm on 1 January 2008, giving the firm 92 partners in total.
