Not only was the lawyer acting for footballers, he was from an American firm!
A Weil Gotshal & Manges associate turned up on the day the offer document went out demanding access to the file. A&O refused. So the Weil chap got on the phone to the Takeover Panel, where assistant secretary Robert Adam immediately told A&O to let him in. Sadly, for Manc fans, to no avail.
