Manches partner to head Richards Butler property

Aylwin has decided to retire, bringing his 36-year tenure at Richards Butler to an end.
The development projects unit comprises the construction, planning and environment practices. Situated within the property department, it provides a support service on property matters as well as handling its own clients.
Head of property Jon Pike said: "John Aylwin is retiring, so we've been looking for a replacement for him for about 18 months. What we were really after was someone with a non-contentious bias, management experience and clients. We're very pleased that Nigel is coming."

Brown's arrival will bring the number of Richards Butler property partners in London up to 11.
Brown said: "I'm looking forward to joining Richards Butler and working with their clients on development projects in the UK and overseas. The property group accounts for approximately 16 per cent of the London office's turnover and is therefore an extremely strong and valued part of the practice.
"I have been at Manches for 17 years, and basically I'm leaving because there are one or two strategy issues that I wasn't wholly in agreement with. Richards Butler offered a new challenge." Brown led the non-contentious construction practice at Manches.
A start date has not yet been agreed, but Brown is around two-thirds into his 12-month notice period, so he should be joining Richards Butler in the summer.
He said that he would be taking clients with him, although he would not disclose names because he is still in discussion with Manches and has ongoing projects to finish.
Brown's clients include BAA, WHSmith and Burford Group. Manches was unavailable for comment.
