The Lawyer can exclusively reveal that Manchester United’s shareholder group, Shareholders United, has taken on US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges to help it fight Malcolm Glazer’s takeover bid.
The US firm is advising on a pro bono basis. Lovells worked for free for Shareholders United on BSkyB’s failed takeover bid in 1998.
Glazer has lined up Allen & Overy while Freshfields is representing Manchester United.
