Manchester United FC has doubled the size of its legal team with the hire of a lawyer from Addleshaw Goddard.
Addleshaws associate Martin Mosley becomes Man Utd head of legal Patrick Stewart’s number two.
“The legal function itself is only 18 months old,” said Stewart. “I want it to evolve naturally rather than making any dramatic changes.”
Stewart joined the club in March 2006 to oversee commercial legal matters following the Glazer takeover.
The club previously relied on Brabners Chaffe Street senior partner Maurice Watkins, who acted as a quasiin- house lawyer, holding a seat on the board from 1984 until November 2004.
He was the board’s longest-serving member before he was voted off by the incoming Glazers.
Watkins still advises the club about football-related legal matters.
Mosley has worked in Addleshaws’ Manchester commercial team on IP/IT matters and will assist Stewart with the commercial activities of the club.
