Australia’s Mallesons Stephen Jacques has bolstered its Hong Kong office with a raid on Clifford Chance.
Corporate and M&A lawyer Stuart Valentine is joining Mallesons as a partner. Valentine joined Clifford Chance in 1988 and his practice includes cross border M&A, restructurings, technology transfer and regulatory issues.
Before joining Clifford Chance, Valentine worked as a diplomat in the Australian foreign service including three years in its Beijing office. He also speaks fluent Mandarin.
This is the second hire Mallesons has made into its Hong Kong Office this year. In January it scooped the head of Linklaters Asian banking group Steven Christopher. It brings to the total number of fee earners in Hong Kong to 75.
