Maitland Chambers has been hit with a rare departure as a senior trust barrister makes a move to XXIV Old Buildings.
David Brownbill is set to join his new set on 2 August. He recently acted on one of the world’s largest fraud cases, the Grupo Torras litigation, and is an attorney of the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Brownbill leaves just as Maitland prepares for its merger with Michael Driscoll QC’s 9 Old Square, expected to take place at the beginning of October
Maitland’s merger with 9 Old Square will make it the bar’s largest chancery set, with 63 members. Maitland itself was the result of a merger in 2001 of sets 13 Old Square and 7 Stone Buildings.
