Ukrainian independent firm Magister & Partners has made its seventh hire in three months, after bringing in a new finance partner in Kiev.

The firm has hired Valery Fedichin from Ukrainian rival Sayenko Kharenko to boost its banking and finance practice. Fedichin specialises in capital markets transactions as well as M&A deals. His hire takes the Kiev office up to eight partners in total.

Driven by high corporate activity in Central and Eastern Europe, Magister has been expanding quickly.

The firm opened a three-lawyer office in Georgia at the start of the year and hired its first chief operating officer Jason Bruzdzinski from US-funded research centre Mitre Corporation. Magister hired two new partners for the Moscow office from Rosneft and Russin & Vecchi and also brought in UniCredit board member Sergey Karaganov as senior adviser.
