Maclays makes six redundant in Glasgow private client team

Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens has confirmed that it has made six lawyers and staff redundant in its private client team in Glasgow.

News broke last month that the firm had begun a consultation with four administrative support staff and two lawyers at risk of losing their jobs (4 May 2012), and the firm today announced that all six would be made redundant.

A Maclays spokesperson said that the firm launched the consultation following a strategy review to “focus on those services which are most closely aligned to the needs of our clients and which can deliver long term profitable growth for the firm in the face of a rapidly changing legal marketplace”.

The firm added that there were no more planned redundancies.

Another Scottish firm, Dundas & Wilson announced in February that it was cutting partners and staff in a bid to “reflect anticipated business needs” (24 February 2012).
