  • In 2004 we sat as diploma in legal practice students (LPC in Scotland) in the oldest law school in Scotland as we were given a talk from leading practitioners on how tough it was in the regions of Scotland.

One student inquired as to why the smaller firms did not contemplate amalgamation.

It has only taken 8 years for them to finally succumb to the inevitable.

The entire legal landscape, globally, will "funnel effect" into larger commercial firms, networks of high street practices, outsourced legal companies, MDPs and supermarket quick fix solutions (online etc.), and overall, cheaper, less cheerful, lawyers.
