Lydian raids BLP and Deloitte for new partners

Belgian independent firm Lydian has boosted its partnership with hires from Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) and Deloitte.

The firm has hired BLP corporate and finance partner Carl Dotremont and Deloitte director and tax specialist Lievin De Wulf, who joins as a counsel.

Dotremont will be charged with expanding Lydian’s finance practice using his experience in private equity and M&A deals. De Wulf will concentrate on tax advice.

The new hires take Lydian beyond 50 lawyers for the first time in its eventful history.

The firm was formerly the Belgian arm of KPMG’s legal network. It changed its name to Lontings & Partners in 2004 when the network disbanded and early last year endured the departure of name partner Dirk Lontings. The firm changed its name and rebranded again in September 2007.
