Eversheds’ Spanish alliance partner Lupicinio Eversheds has tied up with two niche practices.
The firm has struck up strategic alliances – intended as a precursor to a full merger – with Madrid’s Gervás Salas & Asociados and Barcelona outfit Miró Costart Abogados.
Gervás specialises in insurance and reinsurance and also runs a brokerage practice, while Miró Costart focuses on litigation, industrial property and corporate work in Catalonia.
Lupicinio Eversheds, launched in January this year, was the first firm to form new alliances after the collapse of Denton Wilde Sapte’s international network, of which it was a member.
The firm already operates three offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Valladolid.
The Catalonian region is widely recognised as a growing market and Lupicinio’s alliance with Miró Costart should bolster its existing presence in the region.
The move follows the launch of Lovells’ new Madrid office last month, fronted by ex-Cuatrecasas head of corporate Jose Maria Balana de Eguia, who was prised away from the Spanish firm in a high-profile lateral hire earlier this year.
