Lovells wins BNP Paribas court action

Lovells has won a victory for BNP Paribas by defending a discrimination case brought against the bank by former employee Katharina Tofeji. Tofeji alleged that, following the birth of her daughter, BNP Paribas made it difficult for her to return to work part time. The Employment Tribunal dismissed Tofeji’s claims, which included direct and indirect discrimination and victimisation, failure to agree to flexible working requests and unfair dismissal. Lovells partner Elizabeth Slattery acted for the bank, while Russell Jones & Walker senior associate Samantha Mangwana advised Tofeji.
