Lovells Boesebeck Droste has hired two German partners from White & Case's Frankfurt office, Oliver Kessler and Thomas Schrell.
Securities partner Kessler, who joined White & Case in June 1999 from Wessing Berenberg-Gossler, has acted for clients such as Deutsche Telekom, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan and CSFB. He will be spearheading Lovells' drive to capture mandates from US investment banks, particularly in securitisation.
Corporate lawyer Schrell's tenure at White & Case was equally short-lived. He joined White & Case from what was then Freshfields Deringer a year ago (The Lawyer, 18 September 1999).
Deputy managing partner at Lovells Oliver Felsenstein says the recruitments are to strengthen the corporate finance practice. "In the 1970s and the 1980s [Boesebeck Droste] was one of the leading German corporate firms, and we want to go back to our roots."
