Lovells has promoted 18 associates to its partnership, a significant drop on last year's bumper crop of 31. The year before that the firm promoted 18.
As with most City firms this year, Lovells has spread its promotions across a wide range of offices, with its London HQ gaining a third of the total.
The intellectual property, media and technology (IPMT) practice group, which has seen a major push at the firm over the past 12 months, gained the greatest share of the new partners at four. Last year the firm promoted two IP partners.
Senior partner John Young said: "The practice areas and jurisdictions represented by these promotions reflect the firm's investment in areas of strategic importance for the long term development of the firm, as well as recognising the talents of the individuals concerned.
"On behalf of the entire firm I would like to congratulate our new partners. They are testament to Lovells' ongoing investment in its associates and to the firm's desire to bring fresh, young talent into the partnership."
Last year the corporate practice fared best overall, gaining 15 new partners. This year there have been two corporate promotions with the related areas of financial institutions, capital markets and business restructuring and insolvency gaining two apiece.
Geographically, after London the Dusseldorf, Madrid and Moscow offices have each gained two new partners with Beijing, Hong Kong, Munich, New York, Paris and Warsaw receiving one new partner each.
