Lovells has promoted 21 lawyers to its partnership in its largest promotions round since 2007.
Last year the firm made up 19 and 18 in 2008. In 2007 the firm promoted a record 31 new partners, up from 18 the year before.
As was the case last year (9 April 2009) the corporate practice has received the largest proportion of the new intake, with seven joining the corporate partnership.
Litigation and IP have gained five new partners apiece while finance has gained four.
Geographically, London has fared slighted worse than it did last year gaining five new partners compared to six in 2009.
As ever the German practice is well represented, with four made up in Munich, two in Hamburg and one in Düsseldorf. Elsewhere in Europe, Madrid, Milan and Paris gained one new partner each.
There was one promotion apiece in Shanghai and Dubai while Hong Kong gained four new partners.
The new partners will take up their roles on 1 May, the day the firm’s merger with Hogan & Hartson goes live to create Hogan Lovells.
Lovells senior partner John Young (pictured) said: “These appointments acknowledge the hard work of each individual during very challenging economic times.
“As we launch the new firm Hogan Lovells on 1 May we’ll continue to invest in the associate community, to ensure legal talent rises to the top for the benefit of our clients around the world.
“On behalf of the entire firm, I’d like to congratulate our new partners.”
