Lovells is showing its commitment to its European offices with the appointment of eight new partners to its German offices.
The promotions come after the firm's merger with Boesebeck Droste, which was first announced in July and officially completed at the beginning of the year.
While the merger has been ultimately successful, there has been a small amount of fallout, including the departure of corporate partner Rainer Bommert who left to join Haarmann Hemmelrath (The Lawyer, 24 January).
Walker says that the German promotions were decided at a local level.
He says: "We were not in a position to judge these people and if [Lovells] had decided on the promotions the German lawyers might not respond to it as good news."
In total, 22 lawyers have gained promotions throughout Lovells including its London, New York, Chicago and Paris offices.
