Lovells forges ahead with global IP expansion strategy
Lovells has strengthened further its international IP practice with the addition of Wragge & Co patent litigation partner Adam Cooke.
Cooke, who is set to join the firm later in the year, is Lovells' fifth IP lateral hire in the past 12 months and joins a group that the firm is targeting specifically for expansion.
Lovells managing partner David Harris said: "The expansion of the IP practice is a strategically important part of the firm's business plan and we've made significant developments in the last year. Patent litigation is a highly specialised area and the UK is a major jurisdiction for this type of work."
Other hires into the IP group include Krystyna Szczepanowska-Kozlowska in Warsaw and an eight-strong team led by partner Eiichiro Kubota in Tokyo. Lovells has also launched a trademark agency in China.
Cooke, who focuses on life sciences and pharma, joined Wragges as part of its 2000 merger with niche London IP practice Needham & Grant. Although Wragges has no immediate plans to replace him, it has made up two partners in its IP practice in the latest round of promotions.
