Lovells has bolstered its Spanish presence with the hire of Lupicinio Eversheds energy partner Hermenegildo Altozano.
Altozano, Lovells’ 20th lateral hire this year, is to lead the firm’s energy, power, utilities and infrastructure practice in Madrid. He headed the energy practice at Lupicinio Eversheds, where he spent 18 years.
Altozano’s main specialism is energy and infrastructure and he has advised on transactions and projects in Spain and Latin America, as well as providing investment protection and arbitration advice in relation to Latin America.
At Lovells Altozano, who joins later this month, will lead the development of the energy practice in Spain. His appointment brings the firm’s Madrid partner headcount up to eight.
Lovells’ Madrid office, established in 2004, now comprises eight partners and 40 other fee earners.
David Harris, Lovells managing partner, said Altozano’s appointment fits with the firm’s strategy of targeted investment in key industry sectors and practice areas."
