Lord Steyn is to be nominated as chair of human rights organisation Justice’s council.
Lord Steyn, who was a full-time member of the House of Lords’ judicial committee, will replace Lord Alexander of Weedon QC, who has been chair for the last 15 years.
The nomination will take place during the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 18 October 2005.
Commenting on Lord Steyn’s nomination vice-chair of Justice’s council Lord Goodhart QC said: “Justice is very fortunate that one of the best lawyers of his generation replaces another as its chair.”

Having worked in law in 3 different countries, I can firmly say that lawyers in the UK are NOT honest.
And before any of you start piping up about how straight and narrow you are - what's on your timesheet today? What did you pad? You ALL do it, and yes, it's wrong. That kind of behaviour only grows in boldness over time until one day you're appointed a judge as a reward!
