Chief legal counsel and head of external affairs for FTSE100 mining company BHP Billiton John Fast is to retire in the new financial year.
Fast, who leaves BHP after more than seven years, said he is looking forward to retirement, when will be applying his experiences to new challenges.
Peter De Zwart, The FSTE company's regional counsel for the Americas, will be acting as chief legal counsel till Fast's permanent replacement is found.
BHP CEO Chip Goodyear said Fast had made a significant contribution to the company through the execution of best practice across the company's legal, government and asset protection functions and his wise counsel on many important issues and strategic transactions.
"John’s been a valued member of my senior executive team and I wish him well in his future career," Goodyear added.
