Scottish private client leader Turcan Connell has confirmed its long-expected plans to open an office in London.
As first revealed by The Lawyer (The Rising 50 2006), the firm has been considering opening a London office for at least a year. Today (6 June) it completed a contract to lease premises at Stanhope Gate in the West End.
Douglas Connell, the firm's joint senior partner, said the move was the result of the need to serve an increasingly international client base.
"Almost 10 per cent of our clients live in London and the Home Counties, and a further 5 per cent live overseas," said Connell. "In addition, our investment managers are in regular contact with City fund managers. Having an office in London and close to international transport hubs will provide a better way of serving clients not resident in Scotland."
The offices will be fitted out over the summer with Turcan Connell expecting to move in this August to coincide with its tenth anniversary.
The news comes as Turcan Connell reports double-digit growth in revenue for 2006-07, the tenth year in a row it has achieved this. Total fee-income just exceeded £18m to 31 March, up by 15.5 per cent on last year. The firm has 18 partners, 15 of which are equity.
