Locke Lord has boosted its global insurance and reinsurance practice in London with two partners from Steptoe & Johnson.
Damian Cleary and Gavin Coull, both partners at Steptoe & Johnson, join Locke Lord in London – again, as partners – along with associate Helena Coates.
Cleary and Coull both have experience of acting in disputes and coverage-related aspects of non-marine and non-life property and casualty underwriting and claims.
“The addition of Damian and Gavin to our London office strengthens and diversifies an already strong international insurance and reinsurance team and adds considerable bench strength to our practice,” said Nick DiGiovanni, Locke Lord’s global insurance and reinsurance practices chair.
“Not only are they an excellent fit for our firm’s strong collaborative culture, but they will be part of our continuing efforts to further build our insurance and reinsurance platform to better serve clients in the London and European insurance markets.”
Locke Lord relaunched in London at the end of 2011 after hiring a team of lawyers from Salans (7 November 2011). The US firm has built on its initial hires since then, taking on a lawyer from Berkeley House Investments (29 March 2012) and most recently hiring Dewey & LeBoeuf’s UK employment head Sarah Linton (18 May 2012).
