Yacht builders Malcolm and Glenda Taylor of Woolston, Hampshire are seeking damages following a fire at their business premises in March last year. They are suing Chalemead of Sholing, Southampton, following the fire which they say started at premises at Woolston where Chalemead runs an engineering business. Buildings, yachts, tools, equipment and materials were damaged in the blaze.

Michael Clay, a former financial services manager at the TSB, is suing the bank after being sacked. His writ claims the TSB made untrue allegations of gross misconduct against him and that these have prevented him getting another suitable job and have destroyed his reputation and prospects. He was appointed in October 1992, but claims that in breach of contract he was sacked on 13 January last year. He seeks damages for distress and for the damage to his prospects.

The owners of the sea-going cruiser, 'Storm Winds', which was damaged when she was lifted out of the water for repairs, and sank the next day when she was refloated, are suing for damages. Russell and Arthur Tickner of Arlesey, Bedfordshire have issued a writ against Jack Wolde, trading as Hermitage Marine Services, of Hermitage Marina, Earith, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
Laura Bailey and the agency Models One are suing Associated Newspapers for damages for alleged breach of a contract made on 8 November 1994. They are also seeking an injunction restraining the newspaper group from publishing or printing any photo of Miss Bailey taken on 9 November 1994.

Jonathan Miller has launched High Court libel action over a book called 'The Battle for the BBC - a British Broadcasting Conspiracy?'. Miller, of Petersfield, Hampshire, is claiming damages from publishers Aurum Press, of Bedford Avenue, London WC1 and an order banning further publication of the words of which he complains.
