A man who was paralysed after falling from a ladder in a Dixons storeroom is now suing the company. Carl Jarrett, 52, of South Ockenden, has been confined to a wheelchair since the accident on 8 December 1993. Jarrett climbed a ladder on to the roof of a wire storage cage then fell to the floor, suffering head and spinal injuries.

Machine operator David Coll, 46, of Bracknell, who was crushed by an excavator in a building site accident, is suing his former employers. Coll has issued a High Court writ against Joseph Ennis, of London W5, and machine hirers M Donohoe and Sons, of Acton, London W3. The writ says the accident happened on 1 December 1993 and blames it on a broken safety lever on the excavator. It says that Coll was crushed between the space the cab and the tracks.

St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust, of London SW17, and St Peter's Hospital NHS Trust, of Chertsey, are being sued by a Walton-on-Thames man whose legs were amputated after he had treatment for a heart condition. William Carter claims he was a victim of medical negligence. The writ says he underwent angiography on 3 February 1993 but later suffered bilateral leg ischaemia which led to the amputation.

South Cheshire Health Authority is being taken to the High Court by a Chester woman who claims she suffered brain damage after a brain haemorrhage was not diagnosed in time. Claire Abbotts, of Mill Cottage, Lea Lane, Aldford, claims in her writ that she has undergone a personality change as a result of what happened.

Huntingdon Health Authority, Cambridge and Huntingdon Health Authority, Papworth Hospital NHS Trust, and Addenbrook NHS Trust are being sued by Rachel Culley, of Spalding, Lincolnshire, for injuries she claims she received in an accident at Papworth Hospital on 5 February 1993. The writ claims that Culley's injuries were caused by negligence and breach of statutory duty.
