News Group Newspapers and News of the World columnist Michael Winner are being sued for libel damages by Dixons Group. Dixons has issued a High Court writ over a story in Winner's 5 February column in the newspaper, headed: "Have rule that bites".

Veteran peace campaigner Lindis Percy is heading for a new court confrontation. But this time it is the 54-year-old Bradford woman who is behind the action. Percy is suing for damages after being arrested during her protests at US air bases in the UK. Her writ seeks damages from the US Department of Defense, at RAF Mildenhall, Bury St Edmunds; Colonel Carter, of the 48th Support Group at RAF Lakenheath in Brandon, Suffolk; and Lieutenant Colonel Byrd, commander of the 48th security police at RAF Lakenheath.

Monika Danneman has launched libel action against Straight Ahead magazine. She is suing over an article published on pages 4 to 9 of the February 1993 issue.

Lorry driver Barry Ward who was left with a limp and forced to use a stick to walk as a result of injuries he received in a motorcycle crash has launched a damages claim against Albert Beale, of Hounslow, London, and General Accident Fire and Life Assurance. He says his injuries have handicapped him in his work.

Mother of three Ursula Barrow, 37, who was left paralysed from the neck down and only able to breathe through a ventilator after a car accident is suing the man she lived with and who was driving the car at the time of the accident. Barrow, is claiming damages from Mark Windmill. The writ says she was a front seat passenger in a car driven by Windmill which collided with an on-coming vehicle.

A Wembley man whose daughter died is suing Central Middlesex Hospital NHS Trust, for damages for allegedly negligent medical treatment. Robert Butterick's daughter Pamela died on 7 September 1993.
