The owners of a historic country house in Lincolnshire who say their home life is being ruined by the noise of jet fighters from nearby RAF Wittering flying late into the night are taking the Ministry of Defence to the High Court. Darby and Catherine Dennis, of Walcot Hall, Barnack, Stamford, Lincolnshire, claim that the value of their property has dropped as a result of the noise of the jets. The writ says they have lived at Walcot Hall, a grade I listed building built in the 1670s, since 1985. However, the writ says that in recent years Harrier jets from RAF Wittering, two miles away, have generated noise levels of between 95 and 103 dba up to 138 times a day on week days.
