Injuries: Claimant, studying to become a teacher at London's Roehampton Institute at time of accident; head injuries have impaired her memory and intellect and her hopes of becoming a geography and sports teacher are unlikely to be realised
Award: £225,000 (agreed damages); court told defendant claimed she had been on roof as trespasser; had case run full course and been successful damages would have been anticipated to be £450,000; but given risks of litigation, the settlement figure was accepted

Injuries: Carol Noakes worked on supermarket check out and cared for family, which included daughter, 17, and son, 15, along with the four-year-old who died in the accident
Award: £59,688 (agreed damages); son and daughter to receive £5,242 each
