Eversheds has beaten Baker & McKenzie and Sydney firm Mallesons to the role of legal adviser for Indonesian mobile communications company Lippo Telecom.
The three firms pitched for the work for the mobile operator, which has recently been awarded a national 2G and 3G spectrum allocation to cover the whole of Indonesia's 18,000 or so islands.
Eversheds has previously worked with Malaysian company Maxis Mobile, which bought a 51 per cent stake in Lippo in February this year. However, the company handled the $100m (£56.4m) deal in-house.
Now being advised by Eversheds, Lippo plans to expand its coverage across Indonesia. The firm will offer legal support for the procurement and operation of both the network and the technology behind it.
Telecoms head Neil Brown said: "We're delighted to have won both parts of the telecoms-IT instruction."
Under the agreement struck between Lippo and Eversheds, assistant Sonia Williamson will spend 12 weeks on secondment with the company in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.
