Links TMT/IP chief quits for dual roles
Linklaters’ global head of technology, media and telecoms (TMT) and IP has left the firm to take up roles with Bird & Bird and Chinese healthcare group Sinocare.
Tim Schwarz joins Bird & Bird as a partner in its London office. He will also be part-time general counsel at Sinocare in London, but will work with the legal team in China.
Linklaters merged its TMT and IP practices in February last year, appointing Schwarz as global head of the group.
The firm’s TMT/IP group has been left with 20 partners, including seven in London. TMT partner John Crozier has been appointed to replace Schwarz.
Schwarz has been on leave from Linklaters on medical grounds since November last year.
Commenting on the move, he said: “I wanted something with variety - a bit more entrepreneurial.
“Bird & Bird was the natural choice of firms to go to and practise TMT law.”
Sinocare is an expanded healthcare company that runs Chinese hospitals and provides medical equipment.
