Links and Norton Rose win spots on prudential panel

Linklaters and Norton Rose have clinched new spots on Prudential Group’s global legal panel, in a move that formalises both firms’ long-standing relationships with the financial services giant.
Prudential has bulked up its global panel with the two firms following a five-month review, although both have provided legal advice to the financial group for a number of years.
Legacy advisers Slaughter and May, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Hogan Lovells were reappointed to the panel. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, which specialises in US law advice for Prudential, and Baker & McKenzie, which focuses on employment matters, were also reappointed.
No firms were dropped from the panel as a result of the review.
Group general counsel Margaret Coltman, who previously worked at Lloyds Banking Group and was a partner at Norton Rose before joining Prudential in 2009, led the review alongside director of group legal Simon Ramage.
It is understood that new UK legal head Guy Dunlop is set to review Prudential’s UK panel.
A Prudential spokesman said: “Like any other major international company, Prudential works with a variety of legal service providers. We regularly review these in line with our requirements.”
