Linklaters rebuilds Paris capital markets with Shearman hire

Linklaters has turned to Shearman & Sterling for the hire of capital markets partner Bertrand Sénéchal, some six months after a capital markets team left for White & Case.

Sénéchal will join the magic circle firm in September.

His appointment, together with the promotion in May of capital markets lawyer Véronique Delaittre (29 April 2013), brings the number of partners in Linklaters’ French capital markets team to six.

Linklaters lost a capital markets team of three partners and two lawyers to White & Case earlier this year (28 February 2013), while finance partner Olivier Jauffret quit for Weil Gotshal & Manges last autumn (9 October 2012).

Sénéchal has been a partner at Shearman since 2005 and advises on equity, equity linked and debt capital markets. Clients include Danone, Schneider Electric and underwriters.

Linklaters’ Paris managing partner Paul Lignières said Sénéchal was a “natural fit” with the firm’s existing team and his arrival would help the practice’s development plans.
