Linklaters names new head of Luxembourg office
Linklaters has named financial regulation partner Freddy Brausch as head of its Luxembourg office.

Freddy Brausch
Brausch, whose practice also focuses on investment funds, will replace Patrick Geortay, Francine Keiser and Jean-Paul Spang, who will all return to full-time client work at the firm.
Brausch, a partner since 1987, was elected by a partner vote and will begin his four-year term on 15 March. According to Brausch, the decision to change from a group of managing partners to a single leader provoked a lot of debate among partners but is a switch that suits the current market.
Linklaters’ European managing partner Jean-Pierre Blumberg said: “Patrick Geortay, Francine Keiser and Jean-Paul Spang have made an excellent contribution as managing partners for Linklaters’ Luxembourg office. I now look forward to working with Freddy Brausch as the new managing partner. Freddy has the required leadership skills and experience to take our business to the next stage in the Luxembourg market.”
Brausch added: “I believe that now, going forward, there’s plenty of opportunity on the Luxembourg market and we’re ideally placed to go after these opportunities having the global reach that comes with being part of Linklaters, and strong local roots.
“We have a mature office and practice in Luxembourg and it’s not an area where we need to strengthen. We’re looking at growth, but managed growth.”
Linklaters is one of three magic circle firms in Luxembourg, along with Allen & Overy and Clifford Chance.
