Linklaters launches charity in name of murdered lawyer

Steve Hoare

Linklaters have set up a charitable trust in memory of its associate Tom ap Rhys Pryce, who was murdered 12 January in London.

In a statement the magic circle firm said: “We have all been appalled by the murder last week of our friend and colleague Tom ap Rhys Pryce…Tom's family and fiancée have decided that an appropriate memorial would be a charitable trust. Tom was himself a beneficiary of educational funding for which he was always grateful. It is therefore planned that any contributions will be used to enable individuals, who could not otherwise afford it, to achieve their potential by gaining access to the appropriate educational facilities.”

The Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust is in the process of being registered with the Charity Commission. Ap Rhys Pryce’s parents, his fiancée and a Linklaters partner will act as trustees.

Individuals wishing to make a donation can contact Caroline Batho via email (caroline.batho@linklaters.com) or by post (Linklaters, One Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8HQ). Cheques should be made payable to “The Tom ap Rhys Pryce Memorial Trust”.
