Her departure follows that of London HR head Caroline Rawes, who left to become HR director at Taylor Wessing in January (24 January 2011).

King, who has been with the magic circle firm for six years, is retiring from the firm.

She joined the magic circle firm in 2005 from pre-merger Lovells, now Hogan Lovells, where she was also HR director. She previously headed HR teams at KPMG, Tesco and Birds Eye.

Linklaters management currently looking for a replacement to take over by the time King leaves the firm.

In a statement, managing partner Simon Davies said: “Jill will be much missed. Under her leadership, the firm has made significant progress in articulating and executing our people strategy and she leaves a legacy of a strong and well regarded global HR team.

“We can confirm that the search for her successor is underway. In the meantime, we thank Jill for her tremendous contribution to the firm and wish her all the very best in her retirement.”
