The two obvious frontrunners - capital markets head Nick Eastwell and banking head John Tucker - recently went for the managing partner job, only to be bested by Simon Davies.
But the corridor chat has been that Linklaters may split the overall role because of the political difficulties in plumping for one. How would the firm choose between Tucker and Eastwell?
