Linklaters has elected a new senior partner in Germany to succeed Michael Lappe.
Carl-Peter Feick, who has been a partner at the firm since 2001 and led the banking and capital markets practice since 2004, was elected by partner vote and will begin his three-year term 1 May 2010 when he will also join Linklaters’ executive committee.
Feick replaces Michael Lappe, who has completed the maximum of two three-year terms and therefore is not eligible to be re-elected.
Lappe will return to full-time client work in the firm’s corporate department.
Linklaters’ senior partner David Cheyne said in a statement: “I would like to congratulate Carl-Peter on his election. He has a very strong track record both as a lawyer and in various management positions, and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role.
“I would also like to thank Michael Lappe for all he has achieved over the past six years as German senior partner. During this time, our German practice has continued to develop and, as a result, today ranks in the first tier in Germany.”
Feick said: “As German senior partner, I will contribute my part to the continuous and successful implementation of the firm’s strategy. My main role will be the direction as well as internal and external representation of the German partnership.“
