Project New World was the name given to the strategic review that led to the loss of up to 50 partners and some 200 lawyers as part of the firm’s bid to become a smaller and more profitable operation.

But following high-level management meetings on the subject the name has now been dropped and will no longer be used internally. It is understood that the firm felt the title ‘New World’ had taken on a negative connotation.

Managing partner Simon Davies commented: ”Project New World was a review of every aspect of our business in response to changing market forces. That review has concluded.”
