Linklaters has bulked up its French capital markets team with the hire of a partner and three associates from Gide Loyrette Nouel.
Patrice Doat joins Linklaters’ Paris office as a partner. He had previously spent seven years as a partner at Gide.
Doat is the second corporate partner to leave Gide this year, following the April 2011 hire of Hugues Mathez by White & Case.
Linklaters has also suffered partner losses in the past 12 months, after the sudden death of M&A star Thierry Vassogne in January and the more recent departure of banking partner Arnaud Fromion to Shearman & Sterling earlier this month.
Doat specialises in securitisation and structured projects. He said he was looking forward to working in “a truly globally minded environment”.

Doat although a big loss for Gide should not cause the Magic Circles any sleepless nights.

Doat's comments are curiously at odds with his actual stance during his stint in Gide London where he spent much effort and time resisting that globally minded environment.

@Margaret: but does Gide have a globally-minded environment? Or just confused global ambitions which aren't really working?

I shall miss Patrice dearly. Such "lovely and gentle" colleague.
