Linklaters has raided accountancy firm Deloitte for partner Rui Palma, who is to come in as head of tax in its Lisbon office.
Palma, who joins the magic circle firm as a managing associate, was an international tax service manager while at Deloitte. He specialises in international tax planning.
Guy Brannan, Linklaters' global head of tax, said: "Rui's appointment enables us to meet the strong demand for Portuguese tax advice and reflects our strategy of offering market-leading tax advice to our clients, wherever they’re based."
The news comes after a raft of appointments almost two months ago that saw Linklaters launch a Dutch tax practice with the hire of Stibbe's head of tax Staf van Weeghel (The Lawyer, 2 July).
