Linklaters Asia head quits firm for in-house roleLinklaters' Asia managing partner Giles White is to leave the firm to join infrastructure conglomerate Jardine Matheson as general counsel.

White will leave the firm at the end of April, after a career at Linklaters spanning 21 years, 18 as a partner. At Jardine Matheson he will replace Jonathon Gould, who has served as general counsel since leaving Allen & Overy in 2004.

Linklaters managing partner Simon Davies said: "While Giles' retirement is very sad news for the firm, he'll be joining one of Asia's leading conglomerates.

"It's a great opportunity and one that will suit Giles' leadership and legal skills well. He leaves with our thanks for his immense contribution to the firm as well as with our very best wishes."

A spokesperson for the firm said a consultation was underway to find a successor for White, who became Asia managing partner two years ago.
