Belgian firm Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick has boosted its tax expertise with the hire of Laurence Pinte, formerly head of tax for Franco-Belgian bank Dexia.
Pinte joins Liedekerke as a partner after six years at Dexia. She will advise on all areas of tax law with a focus on tax risk management, corporate taxation, taxation in the financial sector and accounting law.
Liedekerke partner Thierry Tilquin has been advising the Belgian government holding company that owns Belgium’s stake in Dexia, which is being broken up (10 October 2011). The state is payng €4bn for Dexia Bank Belgium.
The hire brings the number of lawyers in Liedekerke’s tax group to 27.
The group’s head, Daniel Garabedian, said: “Her broad expertise as a high-profile, in-house tax professional means significant added value for the tax group, further bolstering its reputation for understanding and addressing its clients’ needs.”
