LG sues former client over unpaid fees
LG has launched legal action against former client Dr Zaur Leshkasheli for unpaid fees in relation to litigation.

Leshkasheli instructed LG in August 2009 in connection with a case being mooted by him, British Virgin Islands company Swinbrook Developments and Isle of Man-based Rosserline Consultants against Credit Suisse over the forced sale of Caspian Energy Group.
A letter of engagement was agreed and work carried out by the firm, costing £179,207.
By June 2011, despite being billed, Leshkasheli had not paid up. LG agreed to settle costs at £110,000 and it was agreed that he would pay in instalments.
The first £25,000 instalment was paid in August 2011, but, according to the claim form no further payment was made.
“The claimant has suffered loss and damage in the sum of £85,000,” the claim form states.
Lawrence Graham associate Alex Jay filed a claim at the High Court in December.

And this is news?
Or an example to all law firms to do your credit checks first and then get paid monthly ....

Did they not reserve the right to sue for the full £179,20?

I wish I knew what results LG got for their former client? Mostly, lawyers run up high bills and have not done a darn thing for the client, in which case I would refuse to pay as well.
Yes, this is newsworthy, in my opinion, because no one is prepared to come up with this kind of money that lawyers bill nowadays, or can possibly foresee the type of "services" for which one is being billed.
