LG has won a bid to become foreign legal advisor to Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state-owned oil and gas company.
LG will work with Naftogaz on all its foreign legal projects. The firm, led by partners across Moscow, London and Dubai, won the mandate following a competitive public procurement procedure and will supply Naftogaz with legal advice on contentious and non-contentious issues.
According to London partner Richard Elphick, whose clients also include Russia’s Gazprom, the relationship has already borne fruit, with the firm advising Naftogaz on an arbitration and helping the company establish overseas operations.
Naftogaz and its subsidiaries employ around 175,000 people, accounting for around one eighth of Ukraine’s gross domestic product.
