Lexindia launches in New York

Prominent Indian firm Lexindia, which has bases in London and Paris as well as New Delhi, has launched a New York office

Its launch strategy is to service US clients that are mainly in the software and IT industries and are seeking to invest and set up operations in India. In time the firm hopes to extend this to advising Indian companies looking for North American opportunities.

Priti Suri, who has 15 years experience of international commercial law, has transferred from Lexindia's New Delhi office to head the New York office.

The firm is also about to hire a legal director of a large Indian company and a senior Indian tax expert, who will join its New Delhi operation.

There are very few Indian firms that specialise in corporate work in either London or New York. The other principal London-based commercial Indian firm is ALMT Legal. Lexindia was launched in Paris in 1987 by its senior partner Tony Khindira.
