Lewis Silkin has acquired the niche publishing practice of Geoffrey Davies, who joins the firm with partner Simon Entwistle.
Davies set up the firm in 1991 after leaving Titmuss Sainer & Webb, where he was a partner for 14 years. The practice focuses on corporate and commercial work for publishing and design companies, and clients include Haymarket, Conran and Fitch.
Talks between Davies and 30-partner Lewis Silkin started at the beginning of the year. Davies says: "The success of our practice demanded greater levels of client support than could be provided by a two-man firm, which prompted the decision to seek a merger.
"Talks with Lewis Silkin showed that our firms practised a similar approach and placed the same level of importance on relationships."
Lewis Silkin's nine practice groups include advertising and marketing, and technology and communications, but the firm was previously without a dedicated publishing team.
