LONDON-based Lewis Silkin is conducting a management shake-up, creating the new post of managing partner and promoting key staff, says senior partner Roger Alexander.
Under the old structure, Alexander was also lead partner of the 75-fee earner firm - a title that is now being dropped. "The title lead partner was intended to get away from the idea that I was managing partner," Alexander explains.
"I was there to develop the firm's direction. My new role will be more client-oriented."
Trevor Watkins, previously head of corporate, takes up the newly created post of managing partner, while continuing to practise in mainstream commercial law and finance.
Filling Watkins' shoes is Clare Grayston, a specialist in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions. She will be responsible for the development of corporate services.
Alexander says the revamp will enable younger staff to take on responsibility for day-to-day management.
