French firm Lefèvre Pelletier & Associés has signed an alliance agreement with China’s TransAsia Lawyers, following its hire earlier this month of TransAsia partner Emmanuel Meril.
The alliance gives Lefèvre Pelletier a link into Beijing. It has been present in Asia for over a decade, with offices in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Meril joined the firm a month ago (3 September 2012) and was tasked with developing Lefèvre Pelletier’s corporate practice.
Lefèvre Pelletier management board member Christophe Jacomin said the alliance was a “major expansion” of the firm’s presence in China.
French firms are ramping up their presence in Asia at the moment. Most recently Osborne Clarke’s former French ally Stehlin & Associés hired a partner from Bignon Lebray to launch a presence in Shanghai (13 September 2012).
